Flacco, Ravens still not close on a long-term extension

The Baltimore Ravens aren’t anywhere close to working out a long-term contract extension with quarterback Joe Flacco, according to Aaron Wilson of The Carroll County Times.

Flacco, 27, is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and the two sides have been discussing an extension since February.

There’s still plenty of time for Flacco and the Ravens to reach an agreement. Contrary to Ray Rice, who needs to sign a long-term deal by July 16 to avoid playing under the $7.7 million franchise tag, there is no such deadline for Flacco.

As I wrote back in February, I believe Flacco will sign a deal that averages between $12-13 million per season and includes between $25 million and $35 million guaranteed.
