The Baltimore Ravens are scheduled to meet with Joe Linta, the agent for quarterback Joe Flacco at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis on Saturday.
Linta will meet with Ravens Vice President of Football Administration Pat Moriarty and team president Dick Cass to begin to structure a contract extension for the quarterback.
Flacco, 27, is under contract through the 2012 season, but the Ravens and his representatives are both motivated to hash out a long-term deal to keep him in the Charm City.
Flacco is due $6.76 million in base salary for next season after triggering an escalator clause in his original rookie contract.
Flacco, who has complied a 44-20 regular-season record as the team’s starter, has taken the Ravens to the postseason in each of his first four seasons. He’s been to the AFC Championship Game twice, coming up on the short end both times, but came within a dropped Lee Evans touchdown reception of making it to the Super Bowl, as the team lost 23-20.
