Pollard: ‘I Really Hope the Giants Put a Thrashing on the Patriots’
After the Baltimore Ravens’ loss to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game, safety Bernard Pollard is hoping for the New York Giants to deliver a big blow to the Patriots in the Super Bowl.
“I really hope the Giants – I just hope they just put a thrashing on the Patriots. I really do,” Pollard told a Houston radio station, via ESPN.com.
While I’d love to see that happen, and I respect Pollard for not giving a vanilla answer, this probably won’t happen. The Patriots haven’t been “thrashed” all season long. In fact, all three of New England’s losses have been by a total of 15 points.
It would be challenging for any team to blowout New England because the Patriots’ mindset is to outscore you. The Giants, who boasted the league’s fourth-worst pass defense in the regular season, could have trouble slowing down New England’s aerial assault if their vaunted front-four can’t get to quarterback Tom Brady.
