Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano will interview for the Indianapolis Colts’ head coaching vacancy Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Hired by head coach John Harbaugh as the team’s secondary coach in 2008, Pagano was promoted to defensive coordinator this past season and experienced substantial success. The Ravens ranked third in total defense, and were known for playing a smash-mouth, attacking style.
The Ravens went from a franchise-worst 27 sacks in 2010 to 48 in 2011, which was good for third best in the NFL.
The Colts are looking to replace Jim Caldwell, who was fired after the Colts went a dismal 2-14 without the injured Peyton Manning in 2011.
Pagano, 51, has coached in the college and pro ranks since the mid-1980s, making NFL stops in Cleveland (2001-2004) and Oakland (2005-2006) prior to joining the Ravens staff.
