Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Terrell Suggs has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Month for the month of December, according to Aaron Wilson of The Carroll County Times.
Suggs, 29, finished the season with a career-best 14 sacks, while breaking his own franchise record with seven forced fumbles.
In the final month of the regular season, Suggs recorded five sacks and forced four fumbles for the Ravens.
On Dec. 11 against the Indianapolis Colts, the five-time Pro Bowler recorded three sacks and forced three Dan Orlovsky fumbles.
Last week in the Ravens’ regular-season finale at Cincinnati, Suggs forced a pivotal fumble against Cincinnati Bengals tight end Jermaine Gresham, which led to a Ray Rice 51-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Suggs also sacked rookie quarterback Andy Dalton late in the game to help solidify a 24-16 Baltimore victory.
