After earning his second AFC Defensive Player of the week honor, Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Terrell Suggs is gearing up to make a run at a bigger achievement: the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award.
The Arizona State product has been a force for the Ravens’ defense all season long. To date, Suggs has 49 tackles, nine sacks, three forced fumbles and two interceptions.
If Suggs does earn the honor, it would be the third time a Ravens player has won it and the first time since safety Ed Reed in 2004. It may be worth noting, the Defensive Player of the Year has come from the league’s top five defenses eight of the last nine years, so Suggs’ fate may be dependent on how well the other 10 guys play around him.
