After claiming defensive back Emanuel Cook off waivers from the New York Jets yesterday, head coach John Harbaugh said that special teams were the main reason why the Ravens claimed Cook, according to Dan Kolko of MASNSports.com
Cook, in his second-year out of South Carolina, has appeared in 12 games for the Jets over the past two seasons, and has recorded six special teams tackles during that time.
Reports surfaced out of New York Monday that Cook was released by the Jets on Monday after he was late to a conditioning workout.
However, Cook refuted those reports to the media.
“I really don’t know, I wasn’t late,” Cook said. “I don’t know why.
“I met with (Jets general manager) Mike Tannenbaum. He said we need to make a move. He said he had a better player. They made a push for somebody else.”
