Rookie cornerback Jimmy Smith, who injured his left ankle in the Ravens 35-7 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, is out for Sunday’s matchup against the Tennessee Titans. In fact, Head Coach John Harbaugh believes the rookie corner may be sidelined “a few weeks.”
As if the Ravens weren’t already shorthanded at cornerback.
Veteran Chris Carr, who has been hampered by a left hamstring injury saw a specialist in Texas this week to get another opinion, an ailment that forced him out of Sunday’s win.
Carr was absent from practice Wednesday and has been dealing with hamstring and thigh soreness since early in training camp.
Both, Smith and Carr’s injuries against the Steelers left the Ravens with just three healthy corners for an extended period of time.
As of now, Carr’s status is unknown for Sunday. In 2008, Carr recorded 33 tackles in 16 games, which included two starts for the Titans.
Meanwhile, on the offensive side of the ball, wide receiver Lee Evans was absent from Wednesday’s practice as he continues to be slowed down by a sore left ankle.
If you remember, Evans wore a protective boot on his left foot in the week leading up to the Ravens’ preseason finale in Atlanta. However, the boot was removed in the days leading up to last week’s opener.
