Ravens starting quarterback Joe Flacco, who has not taken a single snap in the Ravens last two preseason finales, will play tonight against the Atlanta Falcons, but the question is for how long?
Flacco said he thinks he will play, but had this to say about his playing time in tonight’s preseason finale:
“I don’t know how much.”
Because of the NFL lockout, which eliminated mini-camps and off season workouts, makes tonight’s contest that much more important for Flacco and the first team offense to get some work in tonight before September 11th’s home opener against the vaunted Pittsburgh Steelers.
Throughout the preseason, Flacco, along with the first-team offense, have had their share of ups and downs to say the least.
With so many new additions to the offense, which include veterans Lee Evans, Ricky Williams, Vonta Leech, Bryant McKinnie, and rookies Torrey Smith and Tandon Doss, it’s important for the offense to get as much work in together as possible to build some chemistry going forward.
On the flip side, since tonight is the final preseason game for the Ravens, a team with such high expectations, can ill-afford to leave key guys on the field because of the injury-risk factor.
That being said, I look for the first-team offense to play one, maybe two series depending on how things work out tonight down in the ATL.
