As mentioned by editor Conoon Kim, the Ravens have acquired receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh on Monday. This is exciting news for Baltimore Ravens fans. Houshmandzadeh will join the field with WR Anquan Boldin, WR Derrick Mason, TE Todd Heap and RB Ray Rice. Don’t forget the team drafted rookie TE Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta. That’s a lot of weapons for QB Joe Flacco, who’s going into just his third season.
Ready for Monday Night Football
“Yeah, T.J will definitely be ready to go by Week 1. He’ll be in here [Monday night], physical [Tuesday] morning, and he’ll start working on the playbook [Tuesday]. He’s been in the system before, and that’s a plus.” -Head Coach John Harbaugh
Next Monday night the Ravens go to the Meadowlands to face the N.Y. Jets, who have a strong secondary. The Jets finally came to a contract agreement with their star CB Darrelle Revis, who held out of training camp and preseason. Revis is considered to be the top cornerback in the league. The Jets also have Pro Bowl CB Antonio Cromartie and rookie CB Kyle Wilson, a top prospect. Then there’s FS Brodney Pool teaming up with SS Jim Leonard, a proven play-maker. This should be a great match-up between the Jets secondary and the Ravens wide receivers.
Though the Ravens traded WR Mark Clayton, who was a class act in Baltimore, Houshmandzadeh replaces him to boost the Ravens offense. GM Ozzie Newsome on Housmandzadeh:
“He’s another proven weapon for our offense — a big receiver with good hands and toughness. The one other thing that every coach and player we talked with about him indicated is that T.J. is a driven player with an excellent work ethic.”
