After an extended absence and silence from the media, Safety Ed Reed has recently been in contact with the Ravens.
Carroll County Times reported that Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh had spoken to Reed just a few days ago. Although Harbaugh did not directly ask Reed about retirement, he told the media that his confidence in Reed’s return hasn’t changed.
According to Harbaugh, Reed has been training hard on his own in Atlanta, GA. Reed’s workout can be seen as a sign of preparation for the upcoming season, an indication that he will in fact return to play.
Harbaugh also said that Reed spoke with Anquan Boldin, and even “expressed excitement about the upcoming season.”
This is a huge sigh of relief for many. Not much is holding him back at this point. Doctors have not expressed any danger in playing football with Reed’s nerve impingement in his neck.
It’s now only a matter of time before Reed officially announces his return, most likely before training camp begins.
