In The 1st Round, The Baltimore Ravens Pick…

Nobody.

Did that come as a surprise?

My first reaction was confusion. I wondered why the Ravens didn’t select CB Kyle Wilson. Then I realized that they always do something surprising in the draft.

I think it’s plausible to say that the Ravens were targeting either TE Jermaine Gresham, WR Dez Bryant, or WR Demaryius Thomas. Once these players were out, the Ravens had no strong interest in anyone else. Unfortunately, not even in DT Jared Odrick or CB Devin McCourty.

However after a second look, this might have been a great move. They traded their 25th overall pick to the Denver Broncos for a 43rd, 70th, and 114th overall. The 43rd pick is in the 2nd round and the 70th is early in the 3rd.

That gives the Ravens 7 total picks in the draft. Hard to tell right now, but after the next few days we’ll be able to determine the success of the trade.
