Since my last post about RFA, only two players, Marshal Yanda and Jalen Parmele, have chosen to sign their tenders before yesterday’s deadline.
Yanda was a key contributor to the Ravens running game last year. Sized at 6’3″ and 310 lb., Yanda made it hard for opponent D-linemen and linebackers to get past him. He started 9 games and saw action in all 16 games of the 2009 regular season. The depth that Yanda added to the O-line helped the Ravens rush for over 2,200 yards. Hopefully his healthy return will reproduce another successful O-line campaign.
Parmele is another important player that adds depth to the Raven’s roster. He was very versatile and efficient in special teams; Parmele was able to contribute on both kickoffs and kick returns. Parmele made 7 special team tackles and also returned kickoffs for 31.4 yards on average.
These signings are absolutely great, but where are the rest of the signings? Le’Ron McClain and Dawan Landry are 2 of the remaining 9 RFA that have not signed their tenders with the Ravens.
This causes me some concern because I have been hearing some trade rumors going on about McClain and Landry.
Stay posted for more information on these trade rumors.
